A corner image. Nothing really interesting about it at all. In fact, it is pretty useless.

Project Update - November 2008Nov 04, 2008 - 8:31 am
Welcome or welcome back!

I'd like to take a moment to say thanks to Bethesda Softworks for finally putting Fallout back on the map after 10 long years. With the exposure of this franchise in the spirit it was originally intended (as a role playing game in a post-apocalyptic future) hopefully we'll have renewed interest in the games that got this franchise started: Fallout 1 and 2.

So, love it or hate it, thanks for putting out Fallout 3.

You might be wondering where that leaves us. Well, we’ve come to a decision here at Fan Made Fallout.

We’re going to release our demo…

We’ve given ourselves a release date. On February 1st, 2009 fans of Fallout will get to see, for the first time, what we’ve been working on for 7 years. We call it City on the Coast and its one of the many areas we’ll be featuring in our full release game.

City on the Coast is located along the Gulf of Mexico in the American state of Texas. It’s seen its share of trial and tribulations and with the coming of a stranger from the wastelands (you) it’s about to see some new ones. You’ll battle swarms of giant rats, experience the horrors of a potent new wasteland drug first hand, and investigate the murder of one of the City’s favorite daughters.

Experience the City on the Coast first hand this coming February 1st, 2009!

Project Update - October 2008Sep 26, 2008 - 7:55 am
Welcome back to the site, fans of fallout.

It's time again for another update on the project. I know it's been a while since you saw one of these, and frankly, there's a good reason for that. The summer always has this effect on the project. The weather gets really nice, people don't want to sit in front of their PCs/Macs and do anything, and so the project tends to slow to a snails crawl.

The hardest part about that kind of lull is that it can be hard to get things moving again afterwards, which is what we're experiencing at the moment. It's tough, and we're trying to get through the lull and back on track. Things would be easier if we had a bigger team of qualified scripters.

With 4 or 5 more skilled scripting madmen we could finish our demo area and finally get something playable out to the public. And it would be nice to have something to show for our almost 7 years of work. But good help is hard to find .. especially when it's unpaid help. The nice thing is we do get people with interest who give it a shot .. but we can't just take anyone. There is something to be said for QUALITY over quanity.

So if you, or someone you know, has scripting experience and would like to come in and help us get this puppy finished, please drop us a line in our forum. We'll evaluate your skill set and see if you'd be able to assist us with our project need. Applicants should know this is an unpaid fan project, so there's no cash compensation. Applicants should also know that we'd like people who are committed to putting in several hours a week (2 or 3 quality hours a week by 4 or 5 people would speed things up greatly).

Other then that, we're pretty much where we were in July.

Thanks for checking in with us and we hope to have a more positive update soon!

Sebastian

Project update - July 1, 2008Jul 01, 2008 - 8:39 am
Welcome back all.

Not a lot to really report at the moment. We're moving ever slowly forward. The project is in the hands of our scripting team and they are taking their time to get it done right. But it is slow going. Our scripters have important, busy lives in the real and they are working as fast as they can.

We could sure use some scripting help... and we're now accepting applications for scripters interested in helping us complete our demo location. Interested parties should apply within ... please see the recruitment tab under the public forum for more information. We're looking for people with some experience in scripting to be able to get going quickly.

Other then that ... not much else to say. Have any questions? Please feel free to ask!

Until next time,
Sebastian of the Wastes

I don't know that I'll always get these updates done on a monthly basis, but It's working out that way for now. Here's what we have going on.

Our scripters have begun to complile the scripts for our demo area and are now working on writing the needed scripts and attaching them one by one to the appropriate in game content. It's a slow process, as there's still a lot to do, but our scripting team is doing a great gob. They work very well together and they are making good, steady process.

Our art department has completed all the demo art we need, including items, NPCs and maps. We're working on making some splash screens and a new menu graphic as well as the intro to the game. They've also made some excellent progress in that area.

Writing is pretty much done too, though we'll probably need to write up some dialog to patch some holes we've made, or to tie off some of the loose ends that attach to the rest of the full game. It sounds like we're far along, but it's a painstaking process that takes time to complete. We're doing our best to maintain a steady pace and get it done. I'm personally very proud of the progress we've made over the past month.

Lastly, in case this hasn't been mentioned yet, I've taken over the duties of project leader for a while, to help keep things moving forward while our other leadership members take some much needed time to work on some other projects both here and in their personal lives. I'll do my best to keep the ship moving forward :)

Thanks for checking in with us and feel free to post any questions or comments you might have in our public areas. Thanks for your continued interest.

EDIT: Almost forgot - We've finally had a chance to update this main area of the site. It's not completely finished, but we've certainly updated a lot of it. You'll find the FAQ has been cleaned up, the team list is more accurate for our current membership, we've fixed up the current project status, and we moved some naked asians to the bottom of the screenshots list. Hopefully you'll be able to find what you're looking for a bit better now.
